There’s so many great Restaurants, Bars and Pubs to love in Ottawa

With so many great places to eat in town, it’s just about impossible to to say which are the best restaurants in Ottawa. But I wanted to share a list of places I’ve had great eating experiences and also the people we’ve photographed have also loved sharing places like El Camino on Elgin, The Hintonburg Public House in Hintonburg, Wilf & Ada’s on Bank, Gezellig in Westboro and the new restaurants opening in Lansdowne Park.



El Camino

Tacos, Tequila and a Raw Bar. Oh yeah and a window for take-out! Chef Matt Carmichael’s El Camino is without a doubt the coolest Ottawa restaurant – with tacos to die for, quite the tequila list and ‘second to none’ service. The Best Tacos in Ottawa!

The Whalesbone Oyster House

This is Ottawa’s best oyster bar and restaurant! It’s super small, but such amazing food! The Whalesbone Crew has taken over the historic Elmdale Tavern at 1084 Wellington Street.

Luneta Café & Bistro

Johnny Farina – Casual Italian Eatery

Johnny Farina’s casual Italian restaurant has made its comfortable home over two floors and three rooms in a former movie theatre in Ottawa’s trendy Elgin Street district.

Canal Ritz

(The Canal Ritz is the best Ottawa restaurant with a canal view in town by far, right on the Rideau Canal surrounded by trees and water – so beautiful. And the staff are so down to earth and so nice)

Wilf & Ada’s

This Ottawa diner/restaurant may be small, but it the best and friendliest weekend brunch in town! And we absolutely love their social media presence in town – it’s super simple and visually delicious! Follow them on twitter at @wilfandadas

The Red Apron – meals to go

Everyday is different at The Red Apron – lunch and dinner are available in their retail store Monday to Friday between 11am & 2pm, and Saturday between 10am & 2pm.



Lansdowne Park Restaurants

Jack Astor’s Lansdowne
This new Ottawa Lansdowne restaurant is a totally unique and refreshed concept for the Jack Astor’s brand. It’s still super fun and authentically friendly, but they’ve shaken things up a fair bit with new menu items – including fresh tacos, absolutely delicious board nachos, mouth watering burgers and the largest craft beer selection in Ottawa! Jack’s is definitely going to be Lansdowne Park’s best restaurant!

JOEY Restaurants
Already well known in Western Canada for their casual fine dining concept, JOEY Restaurants CEO Jeff Fuller describes a “lively and luxurious” interior with patio spaces featuring “a vacation atmosphere.”

South St. Burger Company
Another Ottawa debut with premium, 100% pure, fresh and gluten-free Angus Beef burgers, grilled chicken breasts, New York Fries and more in a contemporary New York loft-style environment.

Local Lounge and Grill
Described as an “urban retreat” featuring VQA wines, cocktails and craft brewed draught beers, along with a menu of favourites prepared with seasonal local ingredients.

At Milestones, enjoy the intimacy of the dining experience in the comfort of warm lighting and a cozy booth, or the buzz in the bar.

Right in the heart of Westboro Village, Gezellig’s modern menu encompasses broad inspirations from around the world, presented in both comfortable and inspiring ways, designed for their very welcomed neighbourhood clientele. Chef Mike Moffatt believes very strongly in local and sustainable food being sourced directly from the farmer or producer, and they do a wonderful job integrating these special products into their menu as often and fully as possible.

The Hintonburg Public House

The Savoy Brassiere

The Flying Banzini

Chef Ryan Moore prepares lofty roast meats carved onto soft buns, pressed and grilled on Paninis, or as the feature topping on artisan pizzas. And a variety of remarkable vegetarian selections. Pastry Chef Raelene Harder has been perfecting petite cheesecake for 15 years. Beautiful to behold. Heavenly to taste. And, petite, so you can have two, three, or nine. Cheesecake with altitude!

(This is one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in Ottawa, and I’m lucky enough for it to be in my neighborhood in Hintonburg! The food is always terrific and super friendly service.) And yes, their spring rolls are the best in Ottawa! :)

Aperitivo is a small, yet intimate Mediterranean inspired restaurant that is located in the heart of Kanata Centrum Walk. Their menu concentrates on the Spanish style of tapas and small plates designed to be shared. It’s a really cool small urban feeling oasis in midst of suburban corporate restaurants. (the lamb is so amazing!)


Preston Street

If you’re craving Sushi in Ottawa, Kiko Sushi Bar is a cool little lounge style sushi bar – I absolutely love their Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box.
