land of opportunity and potential

Chantal Sarkisian photographed on the Corktown Footbridge.

I spent some time photographing and chatting with Chantal Sarkisian yesterday – she chose the foot bridge connecting uOttawa and Centretown to be photographed because she loves all of the locks placed on the railings of the bridge, representing people’s love for someone. How appropriate because Chantal really does love Ottawa! Since Chantal is a serial connector and loves to help others with their businesses, she especially loves the supportive nature of our city for new businesses and new initiatives. “Ottawa truly is the land of opportunity and potential – and I want to be apart of the positive changes that are happening here!”

I always love to ask people if they have any Ottawa gems to share and Chantal had many – because she’s curious about small business and she loves to find out about them and share their stories. One such business is Hair Republic, an eco-friendly Old Ottawa South hair salon who’s also very socially active in the community. She also loves another local business called Givopoly (her husband loved the collection of Big Rig beers she sent to him through their online gifting service).

Chantal is also really loving all of the new Ottawa restaurants that we’re experiencing opening up in our city (aren’t we all). One of her favourites is John Taylor’s new restaurant Taylor’s Genuine Food And Wine Bar.  She also really loves Town on Elgin and Back Lane in WellingtonEnd. Chantal is a big fan of the new Ottawa restaurant scene – how the owners are focusing on casual unpretentious atmospheres and super delicious food!
