the awesomeness of a positive Ottawa project

Last week I heard that famed Canadian fiddler Ashley MacIsaac was playing the NAC on Saturday, so I put a twitter request out there that “it’d be cool to photograph him for loveOttawa”. I was somewhat surprised and blown away when I got the email on Saturday afternoon saying that Ashley had agreed to be photographed. I was initially told that we couldn’t photograph Ashley outside because he was super busy with sound checks and prep for the evening concert, but when I got to the NAC, Ashley suggested we head outside so we could get some Winterlude skaters in the background. :)

Ashely was kind and patient while we were shooting and he was so considerate that we didn’t impose ourselves too much on the Winterlude skaters passing us getting to-and-from the ice. And Marie-Chantale from NAC Presents was so helpful in making it all happen. We’re so lucky to live in Ottawa, a city that we get such rich creative talent like Ashley MacIsaac performing at the NAC, and I’m super lucky that the positive aspects of loveOttawa allow me to meet and photograph such cool folks like Ashley!

Before Ashley slipped away to get back to prepping for the concert, I asked him if there were any places he loved returning to when he was playing Ottawa and his quick reply was “Mellos Diner, definitely Mellos”.  Thanks Ashley!
